Installation of reactive power compensation in low voltage

Adjustable settings for reactive power compensation KRM is designed to maintain a constant given value of power factor (cos φ) in three-phase electrical distribution networks of industrial enterprises and other facilities with voltage up to 690V, frequency 50 Hz.

Installation KRM provide the specified cos φ in the periods of maximum and minimum stresses, and exclude the mode of generation of reactive power.


In networks with a high level of harmonic distortion and the proportion of nonlinear power consumers over 20% of the total load, it is recommended to use a regulated installations, KRMF, which perform the function of improving the power factor, preventing the increase of the harmonic components of voltage and current.

For networks with variable load complement the range of thyristor capacitor Bank type CRMT for systems, static reactive power compensation. This type of equipment is provided with thyristor contactors instead of conventional contactors and is designed for high-speed compensation of loads sensitive to voltage drops.

The installation of the KRM has the following advantages:

  • modular design – allows you to gradually increase the nominal capacity of the installation;
  • accurate control of the values of cos φ (the minimum tier 1 kVAr);
  • the use of specialized contactors with contacts advanced switching and current-limiting resistors, increases the service life of contactors and capacitors;
  • the use of capacitors that have the ability to regenerate itself after the breakdown of the insulating layer;
  • use specialized controllers to automatically control the values of cos φ with protection from harmonic distortion;
  • fuses with high breaking capacity connected to the busbar;
  • small weight and dimension parameters;
  • the possibility of manufacturing plants for the size of the customer.

The use of PFC allows you to:

  • to maintain the required consumer power factor in the automatic mode in the range of 0.8..1 by the connection/disconnection steps of the capacitor banks;
  • to improve the quality of electricity directly in enterprise networks;
  • to reduce the overall energy costs;
  • to reduce the load of the distribution network elements to increase their service life.
  • reducing power losses in cables;
  • the increase in available power on the secondary transformers;
  • the elimination of the voltage drop.
